The New York Times, April 6, 2006 Room to Improve “Cooking in a Flattering Light”, Deborah Baldwin
Q. I'd like to replace the obnoxious fluorescent tubes under my kitchen cabinets. Any suggestions?
A. Fluorescent tubes are economical, environmentally responsible (hardly use energy) and bright (like, blinding). Many people would much prefer something that knows how to flatter the panna cotta.
Most under-cabinet fixtures come in various lengths. (Be sure to measure the cavity, not the face of the cabinet, before buying.) Juno makes the Trak 12, which takes low-voltage halogen or xenon bulbs. A two-foot track is about $12 at Lighting by Gregory, 158 Bowery, (212) 226-1276 or LightingbyGregory.com.
