  • Put a wall sconce on either side of your doorway.

This is not only a great way to create a welcoming effect for visitors to your home, but it is also creates full illumination for when you leave your home.

  • Don’t hang wall sconces too low.

For outdoor wall sconces on the patio or on the side walls of your home, make sure the sconces don’t jut out too far. If they do, they can cause trips and falls. Also, heads can hit the wall sconces if arranged too low.

  • Get a softer light

Use wall sconces with frosted glass to create a softer, diffused light. This is especially useful for wall sconces used on porches or patios where a softer light is preferred.
